The Stephen Siller Children’s Foundation was established in December of 2001 to celebrate the life and legacy of a fallen hero. The Foundation has been featured on Oprah, CBS, PBS, The New York Times, the New York Post, and many other media outlets.
Stephen Siller’s story is both inspiring and compelling. On September 11, 2001, off-duty New York Fire Fighter Stephen Siller — a father of five and himself an orphan by age 10 — heard what was happening in lower Manhattan. His determination and unyielding dedication to others took him to the towers, as he ran from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers with 80 pounds of gear strapped to his back. He gave his own life to save fellow New Yorkers and global citizens that fateful day, and we are inspired by his faithful life mission to always help those in need. Stephen lived his life with a full understanding of the importance of helping people. From his work to his family and friends, he died the way he lived.
"His determination and unyielding dedication to others took him to the towers..."
The mission of The Stephen Siller Children’s Foundation is to aid the “forgotten” children of this world. Stephen was blessed to have a network of siblings and loved ones growing up, but not all orphaned children are so fortunate. The Foundation is now reaching out to the corporate world for help to continue the mission to support our children. Funds donated to the organization go directly to its beneficiaries, those children who are abandoned, abused, ill, neglected, in danger, and/or orphaned. The Foundation — as Stephen did in his life — looks out for those who have no one else to turn to, by aiding young people and investing in our future through educational scholarships, counseling, financial support and other related activities. In every person he continues to touch, Stephen inspired the notion of giving.
The Stephen Siller Children’s Foundation works closely with the New York Foundling — a safe place for children. The Foundation is also committed to providing resources to children who have lost one or both parents — firefighters, military, police officers — in the line of duty. The organization’s Freedom Alliance Scholarship offers children who lost a parent in this way the resources to go to college and to build a successful future, while honoring the brave service of their parents. The Foundation has also served young victims of Hurricane Katrina, and patients at Pediatric Burn Centers throughout America.
